Well, I’m a botanist. A botanist is like a plant scientist.
A scientist? So, you’re an expert!
I know a lot, yes. But I’m always learning.
What do you think is the most important part of a plant?
I think the leaves are the most important.
They are where photosynthesis takes place.

Do you not think the flower is important?
Of course it is! The flower is where plant reproduction takes place.
Why does this flower have leaves on it?
Those are the sepals of the flower.
And what do they do?
They protect the flower before it opens.

What type of pollination does Elaine describe?
What are these long things in the flower?
They’re the stamen and the pistil.
They help the plant to reproduce.
How does that happen?
This flower produces nectar, which bees really like.
So the bees come to the flower, right?
Yes, and they get covered in pollen and help the plant to pollinate.
